Do What You Love

There has been a lot of research done around the jobs Australian’s do and if they are engaged in the workplace. On average only 27% of us are engaged in what we do with a staggering 73% of people not engaged!

You can ask yourself a couple of questions to know if you’re engaged in your work:

- Do you like going to work?

- Do you feel motivated to get out of bed in the morning?

- Are you passionate about what you’re doing?

If you answered yes, you’re one of the 27% and you will be enjoying what you do while feeling like you’re contributing to something meaningful, so stick at it! However, if you answered no, it might be time to take a look at a possible career change.

When you wake up feeling grumpy or irritable, and you feel like you’re not sure you’re in the right role and the only reason you do the work is for the pay check, then its time for a change. Look at your world, think about what you enjoy, and consider what else you could do that would align with what you’re passionate about, and something you could be excited about on a day to day basis.

Life is too short to spend hours doing something we don’t enjoy.

The five different mindsets are featured in our Being More Human book where you can learn to understand yourself and those around you better. If you’re a leader or manager, the skill of measuring other people’s mindset will always come in handy.
